“I’ve always struggled with motion sickness from a fairly early age. As I aged it intensified. I couldn’t play video games, be on a boat with large swells, or go on carnival rides. I also struggled with reading, but was able to compensate with audio books and limiting the amount of time I read. However, in the fall of 2019 I began a doctoral program and was inundated with an exorbitant amount of reading. Hundreds and hundreds of pages in a short period of time. I had been complaining about this for awhile; however, in early January of 2020 I found that after a particularly extended amount of computer work and paper writing, I developed a headache that would not subside. The discomfort was unbearable. I was referred to Dr. Johnson by my optometrist as well as discovering her services online.”
“After my first appointment I felt relieved to know I “wasn’t losing my mind.” There were several issues that converged to create significant difficulty in reading that were solved with appropriate glasses and extensive therapy. It is felt that this began after a fall off a slide onto concrete when I was young and additional falls off of horses and a car accident all started to accumulate. To say they “saved my life” might be an exaggeration, but I can honestly say I do not know if I would have been able to continue my doctoral studies without Dr. Johnson and Chris’s assistance. I cannot thank them enough.”
