“I had enough of seeing double when reading, so my mom took me to vision therapy and that’s where I started to improve. My first couple of weeks at Vision Therapy I knew that my eyes were going to come together and I was going to see one. Now I can read much better. I don’t come home and cry because I see double. Ms. Marjean did a whole lot with me and she trained my eye to be stronger. Thank you Ms. Marjean.”
“The Special Education Teacher from Powers Elementary had Brien informally tested after I had told her of a statement Brien had made about seeing “so many letters.” She recommended eye therapy. Brien couldn’t stay on task. He cried every time he did his homework. Studying for a test took many times of going over the same material, and not always passing. He had low self-esteem. Brien made such comments as “I’ll never get it!” or “I’m stupid.” One time he drew this frown face on his paper with ”Brien’s a failure” next to it. This broke my heart. After attending vision therapy, Brien is taking the initiative to do his homework and has not cried once this year doing it! He‘s staying on task more. And the most important thing is his self-esteem. He now knows he is NOT a failure.”
